For enterprises, this means enhanced capabilities in IoT deployments, improved operational efficiencies, and a cost effective ability to innovate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nDigital Nasional Berhad (DNB) and Ericsson have launched\u00a05G Advanced<\/b>\u00a0technology on DNB’s network, making it one of the first networks to launch this capability. This new technology, leveraging AI, enhances user experience with ultra-low latency and high throughput to bring a truly immersive experience.<\/p>\n
The launch event, held at DNB\u2019s My5G Portal experience centre located at TRX, was officiated by the Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo. Also present were leaders from other government agencies as well as mobile network providers. At the launch event, a live music band performed seamlessly, with the members of the band split across two different locations . The band\u2019s ability to play in sync across different venues was due to the low latency, high bandwidth and reliability of 5G Advanced. The live demonstration showed the potential of use cases, such as remote surgery and immersive education.<\/p>\n
Building on the foundation of 5G, 5G Advanced ensures consistent and superior user experience at any time and place, and can influence network behavior to achieve desired outcomes.The DNB network will also continue to benefit from Ericsson\u2019s AI intent-based operations to build a high-performing network. These advancements both enhance user experiences and enable innovative consumer and enterprise applications that were not possible with standard 5G.<\/p>\n
Ericsson 5G Advanced solutions, such as RedCap, enable a wider range of use cases by extending battery life and reducing complexity for devices like wearables and industry sensors. For businesses, this means better IoT deployments, improved operational efficiencies, and a more affordable way to innovate. 5G Advanced also brings intent-based solutions like Automated Energy Saver, part of Ericsson’s Energy Efficiency and Management subscription, to maximize energy performance.<\/p>\n
In his speech, YB Gobind expressed his hope that this enhancement of Malaysia\u2019s 5G network will encourage more 5G adoption amongst users, especially enterprises. \u201cAccelerating 5G adoption across various enterprises is vital for Malaysia’s digital transformation. It not only positions Malaysia as a 5G leader during our ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 but also bolsters our influence on digital investments and benefits in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n
DNB’s CEO, Datuk Azman Ismail, stated, \u201cOur 5G network is globally recognized for its performance and reliability. With 5G Advanced, DNB aims to help accelerate the digitalization journey of enterprises in sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, oil and gas, agriculture, and tourism with advanced tools to innovate and deliver superior products and services.\u201d<\/p>\n
David Hagerbro, Head of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, said, \u201d5G Advanced capability has been switched on for the DNB network. Ericsson will continue to jointly develop 5G Advanced capabilities strategically with DNB to make the network even more intelligent, efficient and secure. DNB is already a global leader in 5G and the launch of the 5G Advanced capability will enable it to strengthen it\u2019s position.\u201d<\/p>\n
DNB continues to advocate for 5G adoption amongst the public, enterprises and businesses through collaborative and strategic partneships as well as awareness of educational programmes . \u2018My5G Portal\u2019 DNB\u2019s immersive 5G experience center showcases over 50 use cases across 12 industries, providing visitors with a tangible glimpse into the potential of 5G technologies in revolutionising how people work, live and play.<\/p>\n
At the end of December 2024, Malaysia has recorded 18.2 million 5G service subscriptions, representing a 53.4% adoption rate.
