WHA Industrial Development Public Company Limited (WHAID), a subsidiary of WHA Group, has announced progress in the development of the WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 5 (WHA ESIE 5) in Ban Khai District, Rayong Province. Haier Group\u2014the world\u2019s number one home appliance manufacturer for 17 consecutive years\u2014is currently constructing a new, premium-grade washing machine manufacturing plant. Spanning approximately 136 rai, the project represents an investment of over 5.25 billion baht and will serve as a key production hub for both the Thai domestic market and global exports.<\/p>\n

With an annual production capacity of 3 million units, this facility stands as one of the largest investments in the home appliance sector this year. Haier plans to export 60\u201370% of its output to markets in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East. The project is set to create over 1,000 local jobs, while also providing opportunities for Thai parts manufacturers and suppliers to integrate into the international supply chain.<\/p>\n

Throughout its more than 20 years of operations in Thailand, Haier has grown its key production base across several WHAID industrial estates\u2014including WHA ESIE 3 in Chon Buri and this site, WHA ESIE 5, which hosts a large-scale commercial air conditioner plant, facilities for its existing supply chain partners, and most recently, a premium washing machine factory\u2014marking the group\u2019s third manufacturing facility here. Haier\u2019s decision to continue investing serves as clear proof that this industrial estate offers the perfect environment, combining a strategic location with comprehensive utility infrastructure. Haier\u2019s decision to locate its project at the WHA ESIE 5 industrial estate benefits from its strategic position within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Situated adjacent to highways 3191 and 3143, the site offers a direct connection to the Laem Chabang deep-sea port\u2014located just 56 kilometers away. This location allows the company to leverage the incentives offered within the EEC\u2019s promoted zones, as well as those provided by the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), which facilitate efficient logistics management and streamlined customs procedures for both domestic and international product distribution. Currently, WHAID has fully developed the first phase of the estate, spanning 3,400 rai, with plans to expand by an additional 3,500 rai in the future.<\/p>\n

In terms of infrastructure, WHA ESIE 5 is designed according to \u201cSmart Eco Industrial Estate\u201d standards, fully supporting smart production lines, automation, Industry 4.0, and AI-driven operations. The estate features a stable power grid capable of supporting 24-hour production cycles, alongside an underground FTTx (fiber-to-the-x) network that enables factories to seamlessly connect their operating systems and process data in real time. This helps reduce system installation time and accelerates the speed to market for products.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the WHA ESIE 5 industrial estate supports Haier\u2019s sustainability goals and ESG standards through a “Zero Discharge” water management system, which treats and reclaims water for reuse. This is complemented by clean energy solutions from WHA Solar, including solar-powered street lighting, as well as the installation of rooftop, floating, and carport-mounted solar power systems. At the same time, WHA ESIE 5 has been developed as an “Industrial Town” that integrates industrial, commercial, and residential areas.
