Machine Tool Korea Co., Ltd., was founded in 2018 in Changwon, South Korea by Mr. Richard Layo, Mr. Jong B. Won, and Mr. Jong C. Kim. With over 100 years of combined experience in the machine tools industry, they initially produced the DL series lathes, the double-headed lathes with automatic loading/unloading arms, and that such industrial machine tools were exported to Europe. Subsequently, in 2020, the exports were expanded to Australia and North America and the productions of the NL-SY/Y series lathes, Horizontal lathes with Y-axis and auxiliary spindle were begun. Mr. Sirasudhi Papatpong, Overseas Sales Manager, revealed that Machine Tool Korea Co., Ltd., was founded in 2018, and later formed a joint venture with Smart Machine Tool USA Co., Ltd. Currently, the company primarily produces Turning Centers or Horizontal Lathes. The smallest machine has a turning distance of 500 millimeters and a 6-inch chuck, while the largest one has a turning distance of 3.2 meters and a chuck length of 3.2 meters. The company also manufactures three Vertical Machining Center series—SVM, NV, and NVD—all using Linear Roller Guides. However, their CNC Lathes are equipped with Box Guideways.
“The technology to be presented is the NL 2000M Series Turning Lathe, a very popular model in America. The machine includes an 8-inch chuck with Turret Milling, and a custom turret offering 12 stations, indexable to 24 positions. The 8-inch chuck can accommodate an 18.5 kW motor, providing 330 Nm of torque.
