Magna, a Leading World Automotive Supplier, is Committed to the Sustainability with Responsibility for Business Practices in Thailand.
As one of the world’s largest automotive supplier groups, Magna International Inc. is committed to sustainable manufacturing and responsible business practices. With operations in 28 countries and expertise spanning the automotive sector, Magna has continued to drive innovation and environmental stewardship globally, including in Thailand.
Mr. Jeff Hunt, President of Magna’s Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting Group, said of the company’s commitment to sustainability, “Sustainability is our core focus for the Magna Group whereby in 2023, we opened a new plant in Rayong Province manufacturing license plate lights, turning signals, small light components, side mirrors, charging door panels and actuators for both domestic and global export markets. This plant is part of our business strategy of commitment to innovation and sustainability. The company installed solar cell roofs to be in line with its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals. This initiative will help reduce the company’s carbon footprint while supporting Thailand’s sustainability efforts.”
Magna entered the Thai market in 2009 and engaged in the business of producing body and chassis components for international automotive brands that assemble vehicles in the country. Over the past several years, the company has expanded its assembly plant to produce complete seat assemblies for customers in the region. Magna currently employs nearly 600 people, thus making it the company’s primary manufacturing hub in ASEAN. With a focus on delivering world-class automotive solutions, Magna adheres to the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency in all operations.
Following the grand opening of its new plant in India in late January 2025, Magna’s senior executives from the Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting Group visited Thailand to strengthen global and local relationships, underscoring the company’s commitment to building relationships with the employees, partners and stakeholders in the region. During the visit, Magna’s global executives met with executives and employees in Thailand, reinforcing Magna’s commitment to transparency and collaboration.
Magna executives also met with H. E. Ms. Ping Kitnikone, Canadian Ambassador to Thailand, to further enhance ties with Canadian companies operating in Thailand. As a Canadian-based company with a strong global presence, Magna continues to prioritize relationships with governments and industrial leaders to align its operations with broader economic and trade cooperation.
“Thailand plays a key role in Magna’s ASEAN strategy. In addition to contributing to the local economy, Magna also has a mission to promote innovation, sustainability and workforce development. With investment in advanced technologies, partnering with industrial leaders and fostering talented individuals, the company can make significant progress in the automotive sector with a culture of entrepreneurial thinking and continuous improvement. Magna has still focused on creating value for customers, employees and communities. Magna’s mission remains clear: that is to redefine the future of transportation through innovative solutions and a commitment to excellence,” concluded Mr. Hunt.
